Subject: How to save "kernel -c" userconfig changes in 3.1-R? (missing dset!)

I recently upgraded from 2.2.7-Release to 3.1-Release. But, now I can't
find dset. I suppose it was removed in the switch to ELF?

With dset gone, how are "kernel -c" changes saved? I have a non-PnP BIOS
and a PnP sound card, which works fine but now I have to enter the PnP
info in the kernel userconfig every time I boot. "man pnp" still refers
to dset.

Is there a solution, or am I condemned to retyping port irq and drq
information every time I boot?
