The problem is to get ACE (http://siesta.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/ACE.html) up and running on a 3.0-RELEASE machine. Thanks to Robert Schulhof who brought up the idea of using egcs 1.1 or g++ 2.8 instead of the default gcc 2.7.2. For my last tries I used egcs-2.91.60 out of the egcs-1.1.1 port from the ports collection. Robert provided his config files which worked for him but don't for me. They can be found at http://www.apfel.de/~jesse/config.h and http://www.apfel.de/~jesse/platform_macros.GNU. I put the output of the make process to http://www.apfel.de/~jesse/gmake.ACE.out. If anybody has an idea of how to avoid all the "conflicting type"s errors, I would very much appreciate a hint in the right direction.
