As long as your adapter supports multicast and you have a multicast route onto your network, you should be ok. To tell if your network adapter supports multicast: run `ifconfig '; if MULTICAST is in the flags it's supported. To tell if you have a multicast route: run netstat -rn and look for a route for 224.0.0.0.
