Subject: SNMP Daemon on FreeBSD to use with MRTG

Hi all.

I've set up MRTG and got it running on a 4.5 RC2 box, and it's reporting
activity on a Cisco Router just fine. So far so good. :)

Now, I have another FreeBSD box running as a router/gateway, and would like
to have MRTG monitor and report on that. So, I need an SNMP Daemon to run
on the gateway server (if I'm not totally on the wrong track!)

In the ports I see "/usr/ports/net/net-snmp" which includes an "snmpd.sh".
This looks promising, but I'm unsure of myself as this is the first time I
am delving into these low-level protocols....

Before I go installing the wrong thing, can someone please confirm that I
seem to be on the right track? Specifically, if you have set up MRTG to
monitor a FreeBSD box I'd love to here how you sorted the SNMP Daemon on the
FreeBSD box.

Regards,
Patrick O'Reilly.
