I'm not sure how much the merged pa= th needs amendmend and review (and I'm sure there are other bugs which are much more important than this one). However, the controller in question is not s= ome exotic hardware used by "some", but one of the standard options on one of t= he arguably most used vendors (DELL) serving with our beloved FreeBSD. On short term (before deploying machines), I'd be available for further tests. Howev= er I am resorting to USB NVME for boot in the mean time (as I cannot deploy a custom kernel on those machines).
