Yes, definitely; Wide uses a wider datapath than normal, aka narrow. you'll get better thruput in heavy loads with wide vs. narrow. Adaptec 2940UW (NO A) and the NCR series (53c810, 815, 825, etc) work well. The NCRs are only SCSI 2.
