It went directly south and didn't come back. The console complained 4 times about running out of swap and then reported that it had zapped a "sh" process. The machine replied to pings, the console keyboard LEDs were still functional and the screen saver came on and off after the timeout & pressing a key. Apart from that, dead as that parrot. I didn't get to play much 'cos I was using the machine at the time and needed it back up.... So, the moral of the story ?
