Any tips you have would be extremely greatful. I've crashed/powered-off my system many times when playing with a USB audio driver. The first two times, the automatic fsck failed; I figured it was because I had IDE write-caching turned on (the default, but unsafe), so I turned it off (safe but slow, but I haven't noticed much difference.) Since then I've never had a problem. I think the conventional wisdom is that if you use sync mounts (default) + softupdates, and turn off IDE write-caching, your filesystem should always be in a consistent state. I'm no expert, I'm quoting from the tuning(7) manpage and elsewhere... - Rahul To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-chat" in the body of the message
