In any case, I used the Seagate manufactures' tools to 'fix' the problem. In your case, you have a WD drive. Go to this URL and follow the instructions: https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=3D2 The instructions for creating the bootable USB drive are for a Windows system. You could either use a Windows machine to create the disk, or attempt to do so from your PC. I leave the exercise up to you. Report back.
