If you have the CVS tree or use CVSUP, I think that you should be able to specify both a tree branch tag and a date and thereby extract anything you wish. If you use CTM, you can apply just as many (or few) of the updates as you wish. (See the README file in the archive for details on how to start from the RELEASE Tarballs)
