"ati" module is installed by xf86-video-ati and used together with radeonkms
from drm-kmod. Xorg only tries to use it if xorg.conf is missing.

Before this bug Xorg probably used "modesetting". Can you attach "dmesg" ou=
tput
and /var/log/Xorg.0.log from a working configuration?
