The P5/300 boxes with the really good battery life and working modem are cool but the keyboard is noticably smaller than on the newer models like mine (I just have lousy battery life and a nowinmodem as the downsides. :) and you should really try the bigger form-factor before passing full judgement on the VAIO as a working man's laptop. Sure it's a geek fashion statement, but I get far more useful work done on my VAIO than I have on any of my previous laptops.
