I've been banging my head against the wall for the past hour trying to add a 2nd IDE drive to an existing FreeBSD 2.0.5 system, and just accidentally blew away my partition table on the existing system. Is there a simple easy to use utility that will: 1. Partition the disk (ie: fdisk) 2. Create and install a sane disklabel. Disklabel has been giving me all sorts of wierd errors from ioctl: DIOCWDLABEL and DIOCWDINFO about read-only file systems, possible shrinking file systems and Operation not supported. Under freebsd 2.0, sysinstall allowed you to partition a disk and label it without doing anything else. Under 2.0.5, you have to commit the operation, and then it installed onto WD0 after explicitly asking for it do work on WD1. Sorry about the tone of the message, but as you can quite well imagine, I'm a little upset! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Webster Network Manager / Special Projects Dataradio Inc. 200-5500 Royalmount Ave. TEL: +1 514 737 0020 Town of Mount Royal, QC, CANADA H4P 1H7 FAX: +1 514 737 7883 http://www.dataradio.com Email: awebster@dataradio.com
