      For the Asus K8V-SE Deluxe motherboard, sound is fine:
pcm0: <VIA VT8237> port 0xc800-0xc8ff irq 22 at device 17.5 on pci0
pcm0: <Analog Devices AD1980 AC97 Codec>

This requires loading the snd_via8233 module or setting the following in the kernel config file:

device          sound
device          "snd_via8233"

The sysutils/xmbmon port doesn't autodetect the correct monitoring mode, and needs the -I (ISA probe) flag to report sensible values (otherwise it will tell you the CPU is on fire).
