I've tried the programs from the ports collection and will provide the output of all of them in case any of you might recognize the problems. The unit is cabled to the second serial port with the 940-0024C and the 940-0095B cables, each gives the same results. Here is what i tried and what i got: Nut 0.42.1 with the APC Smart driver: # ./apcsmart /dev/cuaa1 Network UPS Tools - APC Smart protocol driver 0.40 (0.42.1) Unable to detect an APC Smart protocol UPS on port /dev/cuaa1 Check the cabling, port name or model name and try again Nut 0.42.1 with the generic (dumb) driver: # ./genericups -t 1 /dev/cuaa1 Generic UPS Tools - Generic UPS driver 0.30 (0.42.1) UPS type: APC Back-UPS (940-0095A/B/C cable) # ./upsd Network UPS Tools upsd 0.42.1 # ./upsc localhost host: localhost MFR: APC MODEL: Back-UPS STATUS: LB OL # # ./upsc localhost host: localhost MFR: APC MODEL: Back-UPS STATUS: LB OL upsd 2.0 Dec 16 15:14:10 b-ainc upsd[36083]: last test: , light test: Dec 16 15:14:10 b-ainc upsd[36083]: frequency: 0.00, maxvac: 0.0, minvac: 0.0, voltage: 0.0 Dec 16 15:14:10 b-ainc upsd[36083]: load: 0.0, recharge: 0.0, temp: 0.0, vdc: 0.00, output voltage: 0.0 Dec 16 15:14:32 b-ainc upsd[36083]: Cannot put the UPS into smart mode! If any of you can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it, I'm sure it is something I'm missing, but this is the first time I've tried to connect one of these devices to a non-windows system.
