Ok, I changed the line in the kernel config to:

device pcm0 at isa? port? tty irq 5 drq 1 flags 0

Then I did a ./MAKEDEV snd0. Now I got sound! Woo Hoo! Except, that it
plays all of my audio files very slowly. So I still have something wrong
with the configuration. Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

fybar

Subject: Sound card in Thinkpad

I have a thinkpad 380d running 3.5.1-Release. I have this older version
because I couldn't get 4.x to work with my pcmcia nic. Anyhoo, when I try
to play a mp3 with amp I get the following message:

Playing: prg.mp3

Unable to open the audio device
Properties: stereo 44100Hz
Coding Method: MPEG1.0 layer3
Bitrate: 128kbit/s
Broken pipe

I have compiled a kernel with 'device pcm0' in the kernel. I also did a
MAKEDEV snd1. It is a dual boot config so I have the irq and adress info.
What next? I would have thought that the device was pnp. Do I need to
change the kernel config and re-compile?

Thanks,

fybar
