Hi all

I'm having some grief with a (rebadged) Cabletron RoamAbout card, on a Dell
Latitude CPi D266XT running 4.6-STABLE. The same grief also occured under
4.5-STABLE.

The first time the card is installed (or when the machine is booted with the
card in it), you get this (acompanied by a bad-sounding PCMCIA type noise):

Jul 26 22:46:18 mordac pccardd[46]: Card "Cabletron"("RoamAbout 802.11 DS")
[Version 01.01] [] matched "Cabletron" ("RoamAbout 802.11 DS") [(null)]
[(null)]
Jul 26 22:46:23 mordac pccardd[46]: driver allocation failed for
Cabletron(RoamAbout 802.11 DS): Device not configured

You then remove the card:

Jul 26 22:52:07 mordac pccardd[46]: wi0: Cabletron (RoamAbout 802.11 DS)
removed

... and reinsert it:

Jul 26 22:52:57 mordac pccardd[46]: Card "Cabletron"("RoamAbout 802.11 DS")
[Version 01.01] [] matched "Cabletron" ("RoamAbout 802.11 DS") [(null)]
[(null)]
wi0 at port 0x240-0x27f irq 11 slot 0 on pccard0
wi0: 802.11 address: [address]
wi0: using Lucent Technologies, WaveLAN/IEEE
ei0: Lucent Firmware: Station 6.04.01
Jul 26 22:53:02 mordac pccardd[46]: wi0: Cabletron (RoamAbout 802.11 DS)
inserted.

and it works fine. But it /always/ fails the first time. It's driving me to
distraction..

Another annoyance is that in an ifconfig the wi0 device /always/ shows "status:
no carrier" even when it's talking happily with an access point..

If anyone has any words of wisdom on these points I'd appreciate hearing them
: )

Thanks

Dale
