Maybe if you ask on the freebsd-stable list, you could get an estimate of the download time to go from 2.2.6 to 2.2.8, assuming you have 2.2.6 sources already installed. One question to ask yourself, is if you need to upgrade at all. If 2.2.6 is working, then perhaps you don't need to upgrade, or to upgrade everything.
