That's actually pretty simple. Plug in the disk. Reboot and run
/stand/sysinstall, and you can then slice, partition and format the
new disk. If you just want one big partition, it might be easier to
use fdisk and disklabel. See the man pages for those two for details.

Vinum should let you do this, but I've not tried it. Read the vinum
man page for details.
