You must have completely misunderstood what I said off list. I discussed tunable/variable min/max slices with Jeff, based on the conversation we had. He came up with something better, after I explained where the variation is useful. Whatever "product" comes out of this, is the result of Jeff hearing a relatively bad idea, and set of circumstances, and replacing it with something that is appropriate for far more environments.
