I may be wrong, but I'd be willing to guess that most of the stuff that can be compressed already has been (with gzip, which has a nice library for using it, and which lends itself much more easily to being used on a variety of platforms with a varying amount of RAM, CPU power, etc...). > Seems to me that there's a more reasonable solution than going to > 5 or 6 disks...
