How nullfs works in the same situation is not know at this time but may have similar problems. People have been using union mounts and nullfs mounts to populate parts of gaols. However the ftpds in these gaols cannot any more read files but instead send randon junk to the clients.. I know about the "here be dragons, slippery when wet" warnings but the change to 4.x ftpd has removed functionality that some people were using to provide service to customers. (let's just say they are worried). all other operations on the gaol seem to work fine.
