This was answered: mount -t msdosfs -r /dev/da0s1 /mnt/ works. Some how this thread was broken, at least on some email clients. It turns out that '-r' is not in the man page for mount_msdosfs. It is the page for mount. Again, thanks to all who replied. Doug
