Hi again,

It looks like I was looking in the wrong place when I didn't spot the 
Adaptec 2410SA RAID controller on the supported hardware list.

The controller is mentioned on this page of supported devices: 
http://www.freebsd.org/releases/6.0R/hardware-amd64.html#DISK

Soooo, I guess there are no issues in using that one then (as that one 
is easier obtainable for the person in charge)...
