If I understand correctly, they are called ls-lR because the files are the result (if not directly, then they are what would be the result) of typing at the Un*x command line ls -lR which give you a recursive listing of the current directory and the contents of each of the subdirectories located within the current directory. So what you have is the contents of ftp.freebsd.org, which you may find very helpful in offline reading for locating files you want. Your question is couched as "your ftp sites." You have posted the question to an email list which the people at FreeBSD.Org may or may not be reading, and it is for discussion of FreeBSD by newbies. So while you seem to be asking the question of FreeBSD.Org, it may be that you get answers from newbies like me instead of an authoritative answer.
