Also, accessing the network (for example via NFS or even using plain old FTP) is not supported natively by iOS, which implies that searching and installing a 3rd party app is required. This sounds very complicated. Basically, I read that people using Linux got it working. I have the most recent software on my FreeBSD machine, so I _assume_ that it should be possible there as well. However, I also read that there have been problems after iOS updates and others related to OpenSSL / GnuTLS, which again should not be a problem anymore as those discussions happened years ago.
