It was DNS ... I have copied a resolv.conf into the jails for future use, but did not enable NAT from the start.=20 The issue disappeared when I commented out the nameserver entries and switched NAT off again, i.e., I could login using ssh in a matter of seconds, not minutes. Now to the followup: Why does ssh and emacs! require DNS for entirely local connections or just to be started? Anyway, thanks for that hint, cheers, --=20 Christopher TZ: GMT + 2h --Sig_/5V+ODDXy6h7vGeQ/.V2=8dg Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (FreeBSD) iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJP6c4XAAoJEJTIKW/o3iwUgFsP+wWzDWO0Zpa1SlhGuOPGag5b LcGo8+D8mJB+CbkU7VSXm/5MREGNKCVuutrSvGt1sU24to8pfexfPM29Mb87qg+E m5JXN0nQL/Mar43UAGbtl8oVuYqoZovh0srfNMxbpBtSTm2V3CvcLZIZd6ybGTTR XThqdm+MqUujlWduPSh3gbhBgwRo/2wWacUaICBTJXKCszvYlBpCz8Lm+uH3Ytfa bavG+rtV32oi9cIC3wfNWzHzn8IBW79wkNC81Jh8F9WBuTYYITNT7uQ8nrqV007H qBHsLAOa9S7xZ6dr47WQr6Pv9ZKlJfHk2JYB588EfRZxtDUioqngBGNRfNoJRcuu I8Sss4SnBChtNWEJrFF5aCROQ5wzF75gLEhSDzvE1Ke0ovr1wEkrK4V+qBRxsb4i EXpmHGFE2ZzBngOT1rSqRA/xDthLC6lGtu8qUznBpqXedaZ7doSohqJpgg/SZPDi 5wAkTmje1E4Z3FNtS2J/zmPzPmwMIjnqrfWPsbxbtwNSdseHB36JHy1LqQkawKCw 52u9cyR71FTXg98RKxG4RpXTrWwRdFOOVQfYjLIfgjA8JqViN4rRWBCg53LIMI7v m0afLApdyFunQetzslx8H7KCt2CYzOUPfhqx7hNXJj+oSNww9Be60TUyLg0IOeqr zgsfLAikQ+6hD8e/zZOv =pMSf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/5V+ODDXy6h7vGeQ/.V2=8dg--
