When I upgrade my 2.2.8 system to 3.0-RELEASE ELF, the system rebooted and gave me a login prompt (xdm didn't start because GENERICupgrade didn't have enough ttyvs). When I tried to login as root or spork, my only logins, it refused each time as if my password was incorrect. I rebooted to single user mode, got logged in as root, and used "passwd" to change my password. I then deleted user spork and remade it with the same UID/GID so my home directory would still be mine. Then I could login normally. Why didn't my passwords work when I upgraded? -Spike Gronim sporkl@ix.netcom.com The majority only rules those who let them.
