Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 18:36:18 -0800 From: John Polstra Sender: owner-cvs-all@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk Putting on my CVSupMeister and Assistant Repository Manager hats for a moment ... Everybody, please don't make commits to the "distrib" tree without clearing them through me first. If erroneous or incorrectly structured changes get installed where freefall's cvsupd can find them, they propagate almost instantly to all of the mirror sites. And that can cause a mess, because it's very intrusive to remove such changes again. There are many subtle reasons, but the consequences can be unavoidable and catastrophic: either mass removals or mass orphanings of innocent users' files. Satoshi is authorized to add new ports collections, and he's always done it flawlessly. Peter, as Repository Manager, is also allowed to make changes if need be. The rest of you, please submit your proposed changes to me. If I am unavailable, send them to -core. I hate to be despotic about this. But our mirroring network has been running smoothly since I set up the current system in December of 1996, and I intend to keep it that way. Thanks for your cooperation.
