It looks to me that I can only recieve TCP traffic. UDP and ICMP seem to be getting blocked on the way in somewhere. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - If I try an ftp 151.141.27.40 (linux machine at school): Apr 8 19:59:51 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 PSH ACK seq:d4d2090d ack:34caaea (108/148) Apr 8 19:59:51 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 ACK seq:34caaea ack:d4d20979 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:05 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 PSH ACK seq:34caaea ack:d4d20979 (12/52) Apr 8 20:00:05 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 ACK seq:d4d20979 ack:34caaf6 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:05 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 PSH ACK seq:d4d20979 ack:34caaf6 (34/74) Apr 8 20:00:05 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 ACK seq:34caaf6 ack:d4d2099b (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:07 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 PSH ACK seq:34caaf6 ack:d4d2099b (15/55) Apr 8 20:00:07 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 ACK seq:d4d2099b ack:34cab05 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:10 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 PSH ACK seq:d4d2099b ack:34cab05 (22/62) Apr 8 20:00:10 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 PSH ACK seq:34cab05 ack:d4d209b1 (6/46) Apr 8 20:00:10 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 PSH ACK seq:d4d209b1 ack:34cab0b (19/59) Apr 8 20:00:10 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 ACK seq:34cab0b ack:d4d209c4 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:16 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 PSH ACK seq:34cab0b ack:d4d209c4 (13/53) Apr 8 20:00:16 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 ACK seq:d4d209c4 ack:34cab18 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:16 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 PSH ACK seq:d4d209c4 ack:34cab18 (35/75) Apr 8 20:00:17 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 ACK seq:34cab18 ack:d4d209e7 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:18 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 PSH ACK seq:34cab18 ack:d4d209e7 (14/54) Apr 8 20:00:18 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: IN TCP: 151.141.27.40:21 ---> 206.107.119.134:1024 PSH ACK seq:d4d209c4 ack:34cab18 (35/75) Apr 8 20:00:18 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 ACK seq:34cab26 ack:d4d209e7 (0/40) Apr 8 20:00:20 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT TCP: 206.107.119.134:1024 ---> 151.141.27.40:21 PSH ACK seq:34cab18 ack:d4d209e7 (14/54) Communication there looks ok but the connection is very sluggish compared to what I get from windows on the same machine/same ISP. The request times out, nowhere do I see anything incoming from 206.107.119.4 and for that matter I do ot see ANY inbound UDP packets in the entire logfile. That is kind of interesting.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I try ping 151.141.27.40. I can ftp there I should be able to ping it. Ping gives no response, the log shows Apr 8 20:13:56 vertex ppp[202]: tun0: TCP/IP: OUT ICMP: 206.107.119.134:8 ---> 151.141.27.40:8 Apr 8 20:14:11 vertex last message repeated 15 times Also nowhere in the log do I see inbound ICMP packets. VERY interesting...... All suggestions are welcomed. This seems to be getting stranger to me..... ****************************** James Higgins Senior - Computer and Information Sciences East Tennessee State University ****************************** To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
