Booting verbose *does* f= ind the disk and it boots as usual. This setup worked on this platform on 11.3. My solution is to increase the loop delay in ata-lowlevel, but I have no id= ea whether this is a good solution. On detecting devices the loop is exitted, = so it should be fine.
