I am now using an external modem and can successfully connect to my internet service provider using user ppp. However, I am not sure how to use applications like ping, ftp and telnet once I am connected. When at the "PPP on hostname>" after connecting to the ISP, and type something like "shell ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" I get a response of "No route to host". I configured my system as set out in the FAQ. What am I doing wrong. Please help.
