https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D234566 Bug ID: 234566 Summary: www/firefox: Enable support for AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) codec Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: gecko@FreeBSD.org Reporter: reezer@reezer.org Assignee: gecko@FreeBSD.org Flags: maintainer-feedback?(gecko@FreeBSD.org) According to a comment[1] on the Mozilla Bug Tracker Firefox seems to be able to build with --enable-av1 on at least FreeBSD 12. While I currently don't have a system to test it I'd assume the same to be true for FreeBSD 11.2. Since various big video portals, such as YouTube are starting to offer videos with this encoding and because official Firefox builds have been starting to come with AV1 enabled by default it might be worthwhile to add an option for it as well. However, maybe one should try against FreeBSD 11.2 first, and if necessary disable it for builds on FreeBSD 11, if it really causes problems.
