I have 2 maxtor 40GB's running off a Promise FastTrak 66 under 4.0-stable, and it's working fine, except for one teensy problem. vinum (striping them), apparently overwrote whatever the promise uses to track them as part of a stripe set... So on reboot, I have to hit an F2 configure, because the promise thinks the array is unconfigured... using a normal Promise card EIDE controller would've been fine...
