Thanks for helping me out.

I got the ports from the same location as the distribution I loaded:

ftp://current.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snapshots/alpha/4.0-20000101-CURRENT/

ftp://current.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snapshots/alpha/4.0-20000101-CURRENT/ports/ports.tgz

Is this incorrect?
