This is normal - FreeBSD maintains ABI compatibility throughout a major release cycle so packages build on N.0 will run on N.m for all m. The reverse might not be true. This ball has occasionally been dropped but very rarely. The general aim is to build packages for a major release on the oldest version that is still supported so that they will run on all supported versions. -- Steve O'Hara-Smith <steve@sohara.org>
