The following reply was made to PR ports/60706; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Markus Brueffer <brueffer@phoenix-systems.de> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, cesarcrusius@earthlink.net Cc: Subject: Re: ports/60706: kimdaba standard install is excruciatingly slow Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2004 21:17:51 +0100 Please don't commit this. As within every port, I completly remove all predefined CFLAGS to allow the port to stick to the systemwide defaults in make.conf. If you want this port to use other CFLAGS than in make.conf, eighter use pkgtools.conf or define them at the commandline when compiling the port. I haven't noticed the mentioned slowdown here (I use CFLAGS=-O -pipe on a -CURRENT and on a -STABLE system). If there really is a major slowdown for more people (I haven't heard of any, yet), I could add a knob like WITH_OPTIMIZED_CFLAGS, but by default the port should respect the systemwide CFLAGS. Markus
