as far as i can remember i always was able to build apache ports with my favorite gcc under stable. This has changed after apache-2.0.48_1 which is in production here with "gcc-3.3.3 20031103 (prerelease)" compiled. The problem came up together with extensive warning messages out of autoconf-hell when compiling the port. (apache2 was very stable here with php/pgsql and has the advantage of having an integrated deflate module, an "official" ldap_module etc. ).
