This is done with defined PREFIX and PKG_DBDIR variables. 'port test' command is recommended by the Porter's Handbook. Note that the port installs the usual way. $ cd www/gnome-user-share ; port test +++++++++++++++ ===> Validating port with portlint WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [140]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [141]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [142]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [143]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [144]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [145]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [146]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [147]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [148]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [149]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: /usr/ports/www/gnome-user-share/pkg-plist: [150]: installing OMF files, please define INSTALLS_OMF (see the FreeBSD GNOME porting guide at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/porting.html for more details) WARN: Makefile: Consider adding support for a WITHOUT_NLS knob to conditionally disable gettext support.
