Spice version 3 is a popular netlist circuit-simulation program. Note
that Spice 3 is now under Berkeley's software distribution agreement
(according to Berkeley).

The Linux spice 3f4 port patch is a set of patches which adds a new
port to Linux 2.0 to use more features (i.e. MFB), fix some terminal
problems, and some minimal added functionality to the spice3f4.tar.gz
file on sunsite.unc.edu. 3f5 patches are also included.

The only change from the previous patch version is that I've added
support for GNU Readline command-line editing, including history file
support. Excerpt from the updated readme.Linux:

    * Support for GNU Readline Command-Line Editing

The consequence of this change is that there may be a few
changes in normal interactive operation. However, usability
should be improved. Operation in non-interactive mode should
        be unchanged.

History for spice3 is saved in ~/.spice3_history and in
~/.nutmeg_history for nutmeg. Also, in your ~/.inputrc
file, you can use the name spice3 and nutmeg for conditional
keybindings. As a result of this, when you restart spice3,
the history counter is appropriately updated. To disable
saving of the history file, set the spice history variable
to zero (set history = 0). By default, the last 1000 lines
        of history are saved.

Note that the history mechanism in spice3 and nutmeg has been
completely replaced by GNU Readline, so running the "history"
command will display the history from GNU Readline and not
the old history mechanism, though operation is similar and
        better.

For more information on using GNU Readline, see the associated
manual for more information on this wonderful tool.

This may work on other platforms, but is untested -- just
include the HAS_GNUREADLINE define in the OS-specific header
        file.

The port patches themselves are in
sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/apps/circuits/spice3f4-patches-1.0.tar.gz,
but may still be in /pub/Linux/Incoming.

An RPM binary for RedHat Linux 4.2 which already contains the patches
is available on a mirror of ftp.redhat.com in the contrib section as
spice-3f4-3.i386.rpm. This has not been tested with libc 6. A new
port will be posted if necessary for libc 6 if necessary when I get
RedHat Linux 5.0.

Regards,
Andrew
