I am trying to install 3.4 on a Dell PowerEdge 4400 which has three scsi controllers: an Adaptec AIC-7899 and an AIC-7880 on board and a 2940U2W. Right now, the cdrom is on the 7880 and the two hard drives are on the 7899. Using either the floppies or the 3.4 cdrom to begin the install, the install kernel boots, but when I choose the install type (novice, quick, or custom), the install fails with the message that no hard drives are found. In looking at the messages that flash by and those to be found by Alt-F2, I can see that the PCI bus is probed and the Intel ethernet card is found (fxp0), but there are no adaptec controllers found (ahc0 or ahc1). Is there something special to be done for an all scsi install? My previous experience is with ide drives. Thanks, Al (posted previously on freebsd-questions with no response) -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albert Kinderman California State University, Northridge albert.kinderman@csun.edu Department of Management Science To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message
