Hi, The "new" SMC EtherPower 10/100 card has a socket for a _flash_ ROM. :-) It appears that SMC provides a ROM with something called "BootWare", that apparently is designed to ease the difficulty of doing diskless stuff.. >From the manual, TCP/IP Mode * TCP/IP mode requires a TFTP daemon and a BOOTP daemon to be loaded at the host. Most versions of DOS can be remote booted, along with a communication service such as NFS. For whatever that is worth. ... JG
