BTW, with that version I have success here on a -current
system. postmaster is up and running:

pgsql     237  0.0  0.2  1148  144  ??  Is    5:03PM   0:00.03 /usr/local/pgsql/bin/postmaster -D/usr/local/pgsql/data -S -o -F (postgres)
