Maybe TrueOS (ex PC-BSD) - as it has been suggested several
times - is a better approach for you? Reading, understanding,
deciding and acting is brought to a minimum with this special
FreeBSD-based operating system, it comes with preinstalled
and preconfigured applications, has lots of autodetection,
and is generally very well suited for desktop users.

On the other hand, it's not hard to follow the handbook and
install FreeBSD. I have seen school children and "elderly
people" get it. I have even seen students being able to
install FreeBSD. Your dual-boot environment with Linux makes
things a little bit more complicated, but you have all (!)
tools and suggestions to solve those problems at hand. And
I just asked a friend who uses Linux and FreeBSD on the same
system: Once you've configured GRUB from inside Linux, it
will boot as intended, it's not hard, it just has to be done.

Additionally, being able to install, maintain and use FreeBSD
will provide you with a great learning experience and also
with several valuable skill sets. You'll become proficient
in the use of the computer, gain a better understanding of
what's happening, which will in turn enable you to deal with
problems much better than common "point & grunt monkeys".
You have to decide for yourself if this future is worth your
time - and the time of others.

_You_ are in charge of your decisions.
