Unfortunately ppp then ceased to function usefully, as no default route to the outside world was established. It seemed like the 'delete ALL' and 'add 0 0 HISADDR' statements in ppp.conf and ppp.linkup were being ignored. I could telnet localhost 3000 and enter 'add 0 0 HISADDR' and then thing worked fine. Much experimentation later I found that I had a typo in my ppp.linkup file that had beem preventing its being used (wrong IP address). When I fixed this then things worked without a manual telnet and 'add 0 0 HISADDR'. Which brings me to what seems to be the error in section 12.1.5. Line 13: in the example, despite the description, apparently DOES NOT add a default route, this only happens when the 'add 0 0 HISADDR' statement in ppp.linkup is executed. Thus I think that both the 'delete ALL' and 'add 0 0 HISADDR' statements in the example shown should be deleted and the comment that ppp.linkup is optional for static IP addresses should also be deleted. Or did I do something else wrong? ---- Ken
