What I could possibly try is get a 11-STABLE installed on a flash drive, bu= ild a CURRENT kernel from a fresh source and try rebooting into that, saving a = dump in the process, then boot into kernel.old (i.e. 11-STABLE kernel) and try k= gdb from there.
