I switched to the ata IDE driver some time ago. Since then, booting stops for about 30 seconds when the driver is installed. It didn't happen when using the old wd driver. I'm using controller ata0 device atadisk0 # ATA disk drives in my kernel. From dmesg: ... isab0: at device 4.0 on pci0 ata-pci0: at device 4.1 on pci0 ata-pci0: Busmastering DMA supported ata0 at 0x00x1f0 irq 14 on ata-pci0 Here booting stops for quite a while and then continues. chip1: irq 19 at device 4.2 on pci0 chip2: at device 4.3 on pci0 ahc0: irq 19 at device 6.0 on pci0 ahc0: aic7890/91 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 16/255 SCBs ...
