I've noticed some strangeness in 3.1R and 2.2.8R vmstat output on
idle systems.

I don't understand why avm (active virtual memory) occasionally
peaks at 4GB, then settles down to a more reasonable value. Is
this a bug or is there something that I don't understand? There is
probably a simple explanation for this. It just escapes me right
now.
