Your error message has some very specific information about an xcb plugin failing to start, I think you should investigate that. you should also check your Xorg logs, including the xsession log (usually somewhere in home directory, depends on how you start your X session). There could be indications there on why xcb (which is a basic X11 mechanism) fail= s.
