https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D276763 Bug ID: 276763 Summary: motd: remove adding/executing "uname -v" output dynamically Product: Base System Version: 13.2-STABLE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: michaelo@FreeBSD.org Prepending a processed version of "uname -v" creates several problems: * The message isn't static, if you need dynamic you can go with https://github.com/sstallion/dynamic_motd * It does not add a huge value/benefit because the default motd says "Show = the version of FreeBSD installed: freebsd-version ; uname -a" and when done it= can lead to the next point * The most important issue with it is that the output is not always correct= and can confuse users. See https://github.com/BastilleBSD/bastille/issues/393. = If you run in a jail which is not the exactly the same version as the jailhost= you see incorrect information. Ideally, instead of showing possibly incorrect information we should only s= how correct static information. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
